Optimal Reactive Power Generation for Transmission Power Systems Considering Discrete Values of Capacitors and Tap Changers

In this paper, an improved coyote optimization algorithm (ICOA) is developed for determining control parameters of transmission power networks to deal with optimal reactive dispatch (ORPD) problem. The performance ICOA method superior its conventional (COA) thanks modifications two new solution generations COA. COA uses a center generate update step size in the first generation and produced one by using random factors diversify search space second generation. By tackling drawbacks COA, can reduce computation steps, shorten execution time, provide better results. compared three standard IEEE systems 30-, 57-, 118-buses continuous discrete variables. Moreover, other algorithms such as water cycle (WCA), salp swarm (SSA), sunflower (SFOA) have been also implemented further investigation real proposed method. All applied methods are metaheuristic based on population randomization. result comparison from test has indicated that higher quality than reasonable time.
